Turkey: Lavrov and Cavusoglu condemn Trump’s decision on Golan Heights

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu met in Antalya on Friday, commenting on the US decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

According to Lavrov, “this is a conscious demonstration of permissiveness. Such a demonstration of permissiveness along with threats, ultimatums, and sanctions are, in general, all the tools used by the United States on the foreign policy arena.”

The Turkish FM stated that “after Trump signed this document, five minutes later we made our first statement and expressed our reaction. We categorically do not accept this decision as it is contrary to international law and UN resolutions. These territories belong to Syria.”
