Swedish and Danish PMs discuss cooperation in the Trump era

Swedish Prime Minster Stefan Lofven and his Danish counterpart, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, discussed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the Trump era, among other issues during a joint press conference following a meeting in Stockholm on Wednesday.

Rasmussen said Swedish-Danish cooperation “is important at a time of insecurity, an American president who turns his back on international cooperation, a more aggressive Putin, a China that is more and more assertive and Brexit.”

They also discussed migration, prosecution of IS members and the money laundering scandals which have hit both the countries.

Swedish Prime Minister took a hard stance against the money laundering scandal involving Swedbank, and the raid that took place at their headquarters on Wednesday morning, saying, “It’s absolutely unacceptable that banks or any other financial institutions whatsoever are even close to money laundering.”

He added, “The organised crime is also something that we are very very thorough on combating.”
