In his attempts to accuse Russia of “aggression” towards Ukraine and Georgia, the head of the American diplomacy, Mike Pompeo, blurted out, admitting that “the main champions of democracy” actually intervene not only in the internal affairs of another country, but also in the electoral process.
Pompeo began his speech by saying that Georgia and Ukraine allegedly “are under strong and incessant pressure from [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,” adding that both countries, like others in Eastern Europe, are continuing to benefit the United States.
At the same time, referring to the topic of the presidential elections in Ukraine, the head of the State Department assured the Congress that the diplomatic agency is actively working in this direction.
“You can observe our efforts around the world, in Ukraine and in Georgia, where we resist Russian influence,” Pompeo addressed the House Foreign Relations Committee. “In the near future, elections will be held in Ukraine, and we have many elements in this direction. The State Department and the Department of Defense work here. ”
