Caracas called “violent” new US sanctions

The restrictive measures imposed by the American leadership hit the key economic institutions of Venezuela and once again demonstrate the “imperial hypocrisy” of Washington.

This statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Jorge Arreas, commenting on the new sanctions by the US Treasury Department, which were imposed on the Venezuelan Bank for Economic and Social Development [BANDES] and its four divisions. At the same time, the American Minister of Finance accused the President of the Bolivarian Republic, Nicolas Maduro, that through the above structures he allegedly takes money abroad.

According to the Venezuelan minister, these US measures are “violent and illegal.” They beat on the “economic heart” of the country.

“This is demonstrated by imperial hypocrisy, when fraudulently we are offered false humanitarian assistance, which covers the attack on Venezuela’s sources of revenue,” the head of diplomatic agency said in a statement.

It is noted that the actual victims of US sanctions pressure were 24 million citizens who were customers of the bank.
