UK Petition in Support of Brexit Abolition Crashes As Over 800.000

The Petitions Committee at the UK House of Commons apologised for the website issues on Thursday as a petition to revoke Brexit and remain part of the European Union gathered over 800,000 signatures. The corresponding petition under the heading “Cancel Article 50 and Stay in the EU” was registered on the website of the British Parliament.

The number of people willing to support this petition is so large that this service periodically stops working. Thus, already now the petition received sufficient support of 100 thousand signatures for it to be submitted to the House of Commons for consideration.

“The government has repeatedly stated that withdrawal from the EU is“ the will of the people. ”We must end this statement by demonstrating the strength of public support for the idea of remaining in the EU. The referendum may not take place, so vote now,” the petition says.

British Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt earlier called it possible to hold a vote in parliament on the abolition of Brexit, if an agreement on the terms of cooperation with the European Union is not accepted by the House of Commons next week, although he called such a scenario unlikely. The British prime minister on Wednesday asked the EU to postpone the date of the country’s withdrawal from the EU until June 30, instead of the planned March 29th.

However, the head of the European Council Donald Tusk, in response, said that the transfer of “divorce” for a short time is possible, but on condition that the parliament of the kingdom approves the Brexit deal. Earlier, British lawmakers have twice rejected this draft agreement – January 15 and March 12. This week, Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, warned that he would not allow the government to put the vote to a vote for the third time, unless it is substantially changed.
