Moscow, Beijing urge to stamp out terrorism in Syria — Russia’s foreign ministry

Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov focused on the urgency of total eradication of terrorism in Syria at his talks with China’s Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

They “reaffirmed Russia and China’s invariable support to the efforts to find a speedy solution to the Syrian crisis based on Resolution 2254 of the United Nations Security Council. In this context, [the two diplomats] underscored that the terrorist presence on Syrian soil needs to be totally eradicated, and that international assistance is needed for the process of refugees’ return and Syria’s social and economic reconstruction under the condition of sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic,” the foreign ministry said.
