French Defence Chief: Paris Is Ready to Strike Syria

Speaking to the Atlantic Council, the French armed forces minister Florence Parly  reaffirmed the country’s support for her transatlantic ally – the United States – and added that Paris would strike Syria again if it is necessary.

“You can count on us. We will be ready to go for the US not only in today’s war, but also in tomorrow. When the Syrian government used chemical weapons, we, along with the United States, attacked ATS. We will do it again if necessary,” said Parley.

Recall, on April 14, 2018, the United States, France and the United Kingdom launched more than 100 missiles for several targets in Syria. The reason for the massive strike of the Western coalition in Syria was the fabricated film “White Helmets”. The Syrian authorities denied the charges, insisting that the attack was staged by militant groups to justify the American presence in Syria.

The minister also defended the proposal of French President Emmanuel Macron to form a European army – a concept that caused outrage among American counterpart Donald Trump.

She added that this idea “should never be seen as a step against the United States” and is intended not to change the conditions of NATO, but to ease the burden of Washington.
