Kazakhstan’s new president set a course for integration in the Eurasian Economic Union


The successor of the first president of Kazakhstan has already paid tribute to his predecessor – his very first initiative was to rename the capital of the state of Astana to Nursultan. For the 78-year term of Nazarbayev, the status of the leader of the nation is enshrined in law. He also retained the post of chairman of the Security Council and head of the ruling Nur Otan party.

“A strong President, an authoritative Parliament, an accountable government,” a statement was made today at the head of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, formulated his point of view on the political structure of the countries speaking at a parliamentary conference in Astana in November 2014.

In addition, Tokayev awarded the title of “People’s Hero” to 78-year-old Nazarbayev.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev became the chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan in October 2013. According to the Constitution in force in the country, he was in fact the second person in the state.

Over the past years, the 65-year-old Tokayev managed to comment on a number of scandals. As for the fact that there are foreigners in agriculture, there will be no ingenious schemes to circumvent the current legislation.

Entering the death penalty law at the end of last year, Tokayev proposed toughening the prosecution of drug dealers – to achieve life imprisonment and even the death penalty. According to his estimates, this criminal activity can be equated to terrorism.
