Brexit ‘takes back control’ of art at London exhibition

A new London exhibition is trying to tackle the thorny issue of Brexit.

The show’s curator, who goes by the single name Bryden, explained the concept behind the ‘Take Back Control’ exhibition on a visit to the Crypt Gallery on Thursday.

The title reflects a ‘Leave’ campaign slogan, although artworks in support of staying in the EU are also on display.

“It is an opportunity to relive the gut-wrenching excitement of the Brexit referendum vote week,” said Bryden.

“An amazing group of artists share their work and their feelings about the art from that point forwards as well,” he added.

The pieces include screaming at a Union Jack mug and newspapers from the week leading up to Brexit.

The exhibition runs until March 24, just before the planned date of departure on March 29.
