Syrian refugees became a “human shield” for the United States

When most of the militants of the Islamic state are destroyed, one of the few instability zones in Syria remains the territory occupied by American troops in the Al-Tanf region. Washington is beneficial to such an alignment, and there they will do everything to keep things as they are, an orientalist and publicist, Andrei Ontikov, told about the situation with the Syrian refugee camp Er-Rukban, whose inhabitants were almost hostage to the US Armed Forces.

According to the expert, this camp is, though tense, but the only reason for maintaining the American military presence in the SAR. “By and large, it is a human shield,” he added.

Solving the refugee problem means losing the bases for the occupation, which is why Washington prevents the intervention of Damascus, Moscow and even the UN in the situation, explained Ontikov: hint that the militants will be put into action. Actually, the district of Al-Tanf is the only territory where IS terrorists can still hide.

In this regard, the expert continues, it is important for the Russian side to continue to work in the humanitarian direction, to convey to the refugees information that housing is being restored in Syria, as well as to ensure that humanitarian aid falls into the right hands. Ontikov does not exclude the Al-Tanf military scenario: “If the United States is so brazen, they are attacking the fighters of the Syrian Arab army who are trying to enter the occupation zone, then it must be surrounded and all the militants who will try to escape must be eliminated.”
