The Unifying Force Of “American Democracy”: Moscow And Caracas Are Moving Towards A Rapprochement

Washington’s attempt to establish a “tame” government in oil-rich Venezuela results in the fact that Caracas is increasingly moving closer to “the main enemy of democracy” by Russia.

So, the Vice-President of the Bolivarian Republic, Delsy Rodriguez, on Friday, March 1, announced that the Venezuelan authorities are preparing to sign a number of bilateral agreements with the Russian side, which will allow to deepen cooperation.

She recalled that at the end of last year, Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro was in Moscow on a visit, which ended with the emergence of new useful agreements.

“Now we are preparing to expand our cooperation, we are preparing for new agreements that we will implement together with 264 others that already exist,” said Rodriguez, adding that a meeting of the intergovernmental commission of Venezuela and the Russian Federation is planned in April, under which signed new agreements.

Recall that the US administration hoped to overthrow the government of Nicholas Mouduro in Venezuela, replacing him with his own appointee Juan Guaydo, who in January even proclaimed himself “president” of the Bolivarian Republic. Then many countries of the western camp came out against the legitimate government in Venezuela, supporting the impostor. Russia, in turn, spoke in support of Maduro. China adheres to the same position.
