In the process of glorification of criminals of the past, the Ukrainian authorities established in Ternopil a monument to Omelyan Polevoy, one of the fighters of the Nazi special forces “Nachtigall” also known as the “North” group.
About it on the page on Facebook the head of the Ukrainian Jewish committee Edward Dolinsky wrote.
He said that as a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, Polevoy graduated from a German police school in occupied Poland, after which he entered the notorious Nachtigall.
“After the disbandment, he moved to the battalion of the auxiliary police Shutsmanshaft, which participated in the massacres of Jews and punitive operations against partisans and civilians in Belarus. In Ternopil, the street was named after him, ” wrote Dolinsky.
