Venezuela’s National Guard Opened Fire On Colombian Border

Soldiers of the National Guard of Venezuela on Monday opened fire on the Simon Bolivar bridge on the border with Colombia to disperse protesters.

Shooting was conducted in the direction of Colombia. The police of the country on their territory, brought weapons to combat readiness, but did not shoot.

Information about the victims among the Colombian security officials was not made public.

Protesters on the border of the two countries are demanding that the Venezuelan authorities allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the country.

On February 23, the Venezuelan opposition attempted to deliver humanitarian aid to the republic through the borders with Colombia and Brazil closed by Caracas. Departed in the border crossing area units of the National Guard and the police did not let the goods, several trucks were burned.

In the course of the riots, hundreds of people were injured, including dozens of Colombian citizens. According to various sources, from four to more than 25 people died. At the same time, according to the calculations of the opposition, since February 23, about 160 security officials, who did not wish to obey Maduro’s orders, ran to Colombia.
