In Germany, began a new wave of strikes of civil servants, who demand a wage increase of 6%.
The protest actions are confined to the third round of negotiations between the German Public Service Association (DBB) and the governments of the state, which will be held February 28 – March 1 in Potsdam.
In connection with the warning strikes in a number of cities in the country, kindergartens are closed, part of classes in schools and universities has been canceled.
In particular, on Monday the demonstrations took place in Hamburg, Jena, in the north and south of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg and in Schleswig-Holstein. In the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, employees of hospitals in Aachen, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Essen and Cologne joined the strike, a spokesperson for the Verdi union told the dpa news agency.
This week, civil servants are planning to join the actions in Düsseldorf, Nuremberg, Saarbrücken (February 26), as well as Bremen, Lower Saxony, Erfurt and Schwerin (February 27).
All civil servants can participate in precautionary strikes organized by various trade unions, except for officials, who make up about a third of all state employees.
DBB requires, in particular, to raise public sector wages by 6%, or at least 200 euros, to increase by 100 euros payments to trainees and those who receive vocational training in government agencies, as well as to increase the supplement for work on Saturdays to hospital employees to 20% percent.
