USA: Donald Trump discusses Hanoi summit

US President Donald Trump discussed the upcoming summit in Hanoi with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during a speech at the Governor’s Ball in the White House on Sunday, striking an optimistic note about denuclearisation and the future prospects of North Korea.

“He has a chance to have a country that is so vibrant, economically,” Trump said.

“He’s got a location that’s unbelievable. As a real estate person, I’ve always done really well with location.”

The president said he was ‘not pushing for speed’ in reaching an agreement to denuclearise the Korean peninsula, and that sanctions would remain in place for the time being.

The summit in Hanoi will be the second face-to-face meeting between the two leaders, and is due to take place on February 27 and 28.
