Vladimir Plahotniuc, the scandalous Moldovan oligarch and head of the pro-Western Democratic Party, became the focus of attention of one of the largest American publications, just before the parliamentary elections in the republic.
Thus, the article in “The Washington Times”, referring to Aaron Miller’s earlier book “Moldova in the power of Vladimir Plahotniuc: Corruption and oligarchy”, states openly that cooperation with the so-called Moldavian puppeteer “contradicts the national interests of the United States in the region”. Moreover, the author of the article stresses, the support of Plahotniuc from the West also damages the citizens of the East European Republic.
It is also very curious that the American outlet accuses Plahotniuc of stealing a billion dollars, 700 million of which settled in his accounts, and the rest were distributed among the “partners” from the Liberal Party. Against this background, Washington already has enough reasons to stop financing Chisinau and initiate a criminal case against the head of PDM with appropriate sanctions that will freeze his bank accounts.
