Venezuelan Deputy FM: Serbia knows what it means to be a country under constant pressure

Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister, European Relations Specialist Yván Gil Pinto gave a lecture in the Serbian capital of Belgrade.

“A package of measures are now attempt to be applied gainst Venezuela, as they used to be against you (Serbia), and according to the plan this should end with military intervention. Venezuela is a victim of aggression and economic blockade by a large global player and a source of bloodshed, which the world has ever seen. Since Hugo Chavez came to power in Venezuela, it is becoming more and more difficult for us to protect our natural resources. 20 years ago was passed a legislation, according to which only Venezuela has the right to exploit its resources. With the arrival of Chavez the country has provided the largest investment in the social sphere in its history”, said the diplomat.

“Now the US special services are working to overthrow President Nicolas Maduro. Economic measures have caused tremendous damage to our industry – about $ 350 million. You in Serbia know well what the effect of sanctions might be. So Serbia was “strangled” economically so that it weakened to war,” Pinto reminded.

The Venezuelan diplomat stressed that Caracas in its relations with Serbia will continue to adhere to the position of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Only the Serbian people can make fateful decisions about the future of their country, without blackmail and pressure, he said. Also, the Deputy Minister thanked Serbia for supporting the legitimate authority of Venezuela.
