A man wielding a knife stabbed at least three people in Marseille on Tuesday, before being shot dead by police officers.
Footage from Canabiere and rue de Rome in central Marseille, showed police officers and rescuers trying to resuscitate a man on the ground.
The assailant was shot dead by police after attacking several passers-by with a knife. The injured were transferred to local hospitals.
The motive of the attack is as yet unknown. According to local sources, the attacker was a 36-year-old man known to police.
