Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commended on US President Donald Trump’s call for the European Union to take back around 800 Islamic State fighters captured in Syria. He made the comment during a press conference with his Oman counterpart Yusuf Bin Alawi in Moscow on Monday.
“These individuals are suspected of terrorism. They are foreign terrorist fighters. This term is fixed in the UN Security Council Resolutions,” he said, adding that the resolutions contain specific regulations on dealing with such militants.
“The first and natural step towards this is transparency and sharing information on these people,” Lavrov added.
