Bulgaria: Nationalists honour pro-Nazi general Lukov

Hundreds of far-right activists from across Europe participated in a torchlit procession in Sofia on Saturday, to pay tribute to World War II General Hristo Lukov, known for his Nazi affiliations. Protesters marched through the centre of the country’s capital holding Bulgarian National Union flags, torches and portraits of the famous general, who was Bulgaria’s war minister and a close ally to the Nazi regime in Germany. The march organised by the far-right ‘Bulgarian National Legions’ (BNL) has been held annually since 2003, involving participants from France, Germany, Sweden, Poland and Hungary.
