Juan Guaido gives military two-week deadline

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido gave the Armed Forces a two-week deadline to back his effort to become interim-president at an oil industry forum in Caracas on Friday.

“February 23 is coming, gentlemen from the Armed Forces. It is a very important date for the Venezuelan society not only because we have an opportunity to stop this emergency, which is directly and indirectly killing people, but also to literally open the doors of change for Venezuela,” Guaido said.

The self-declared interim president has set February 23 as the day when humanitarian aid will enter Venezuela.

In response, President Nicolas Maduro ordered the military to block aid from entering the country.
