West decided to create a terrorist quasi-state in Syria

The de-escalation zone created in the Syrian province of Idlib helped to locate many terrorist groups that were previously scattered throughout the country, but now the Western countries have their own rather dubious plans regarding this territory, told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to him, no agreements between the guarantor countries of the Syrian settlement imply that Idlib will forever remain under the control of the militants as a kind of terrorist enclave. Nevertheless, a number of Western countries are considering such an option, and even picked up a “main player” in the face of the most influential and large group “Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham”.

“There is information that some Western states want exactly this. They want this enclave where Jabhat an-Nusra [since 2017 has been part of Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham] captured over 90% of the territory, became a kind of participant in the upcoming political process, ”the foreign minister said.

At the same time, he stressed that the agreement between Ankara and Moscow, concluded in September last year, was of a temporary nature.
