Not a good day for Dems: Trump managed to survive the biggest scandal

The Senate Intelligence Committee officially completed a two-year investigation into Russia’s “interference” in the 2016 presidential election. Сhairman of the committee, Sen. Richard Burr, stressed that during the investigation no collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and the Russian authorities was found.

The same conclusion was reached by the congressmen in the House of Representatives, who last year completed their own investigation of Russiagate. However, then the Democrats refused to accept the position of the majority and resumed this investigation after the November elections. Now the Dems had to reluctantly recognize the common position of the Senate Intelligence Committee. It studied the situation longer and more closely and managed to interrogate almost all the witnesses in the case.

As Burr himself noted, they simply didn’t have anyone left to invite to testify, and no trace of the notorious “collusion” was ever found. The liberal public experienced a mourning day: after all, now they don’t even manage to accuse Republicans of bias, since the Democrats by and large supported their position. All hopes of Trump’s opponents remained on the investigation of Robert Muller, which in theory could last until July. And the final report of the Senate should not be expected until autumn.

The Mueller’s team spent almost two years and $ 30 million to send a group of people to prison for such terrible crimes as unregistered lobbying in favor of Turkey and Ukraine, tax evasion ten years ago and procedural violations. As for the “collusion” itself, things have nothing out of the common. Even liberal lawyers advise to prepare for the fact that Mueller’s report will be quite boring. But one should not underestimate his abilities to exaggerate with ominous phrases like “conspiracy against American democracy,” just not to admit the complete absence of corpus delicti in what he is studying.

In the meantime, another real scandal has flared up around the FBI, which, however, is not much discussed in the press. The bureau staff had to publish the correspondence of James Comey and lawyers of Hillary Clinton from October 2016. As it turned out, the FBI offered to hush up the story with her mail and remove confidential status from her messages in exchange for strengthening the role of the bureau after Hillary’s expected victory in the elections. In particular, Comey asked Clinton to increase the number of foreign employees of the FBI and expand their powers. Such an absolutely unsophisticated example of corruption: and as usual, no investigation on this issue is planned.
