United States goes to extreme measures: frozen conflicts will turn into hot spots

Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria, Donbass – in the next two years, Washington will squeeze the most out of these conflicts, straining the parties in an attempt to increase its influence, says foreign affairs expert Alexander Gusev.

According to him, Washington prepares a serious test for the post-Soviet countries. As before, Moldova and Ukraine remain under threat, he notes, Belarus will be one of the goals, but the main focus will be on Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

“The United States is currently working to strengthen control over the current political and regional elites. Large finances are allocated to this, therefore, I believe that emphasis will be placed on these regions and countries,” Gusev continued, adding that Moscow would have to level this influence in the countries that are Russia’s strategic partners.

He stressed that the escalation of existing conflicts will become a priority task for Washington: “The situation with Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria, the Taliban’s influence in Tajikistan, the conflict in the Donbass will be exacerbated.”
