Stoltenberg: NATO Adapting to ‘world With More Russian Missiles, World Without INF’

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced on Tuesday a meeting of defense ministers of the alliance scheduled for the next day.

“We will discuss Russia’s violation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty,” he said, adding that Moscow continues “to develop and deploy several battalions of the SSC-8 missile.”

The ministers “will discuss what steps NATO should take to adapt to a world with more Russian missiles,” according to Stoltenberg.

“NATO does not want a new arms race,” he said, adding that the alliance doesn’t intend “to deploy new ground-based nuclear missiles in Europe.

” The Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier this month that NATO has completely adjusted to the line of the US, aimed at the definitive dismantling of the global arms control system.
