Spain: One arrested as anti-fascists protest Vox presence in Barcelona

Around 150 people demonstrated in Barcelona on Friday against an event hosted by far-right nationalist party Vox, resulting in clashes with police and one person being arrested.

Police had to disperse the concentration to prevent people from breaking into the Vox event, called ‘Canas por Espana’ (Beers for Spain).

Footage shows protesters responding with barricades, from where they reportedly threw stones and glass bottles.

The Vox party is against regional autonomy in Spain and sued both the Parliament of Catalonia and several individual pro-independence politicians following the Catalan independence declaration.
