Sidorov: Georgia Blocks the Process of Resolving the Conflict With South Ossetia

“The situation around Abkhazia and South Ossetia remains a challenge for security in the Caucasus. Georgia, demonstrating its readiness for dialogue, is actually blocking the negotiation process to resolve the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts in the Geneva format, refusing to sign commitments on non-use of force against Tskhinval and Sukhum.
Western countries still support Tbilisi in this issue, creating conditions for the exacerbation of the situation. The activities of the US and NATO to expand their influence in the region are of concern”, said the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Anatoly Sidorov on the prerequisites for the exacerbation of the situation in the Caucasus at briefing at the Russia Today MIA.
