Western media refused to publish the truth about the events of February 7, 2018 in Syria. Why the coalition attacked pro-government forces, what the Russians did of the so-called Wagner PMCs, and why they did not shoot down American helicopters — Lebanese journalist Firas Shufi’s film “On the Eastern Bank of the Euphrates” answers these questions, which was commissioned by the “famous British TV channel”, but they refused to publish it. Perhaps we would never have known this if the author had not posted the report he shot in social networks.
Recall, on December 19, 2018, US President Donald Trump officially announced the withdrawal of American troops from Syria, and the crew of Shufi, as follows from the description of the video, went to make a film about how the United States military left the Middle Eastern country.
However, having arrived at the scene, Lebanese journalists found that the United States was in no hurry to leave Syria, and they wanted to find out why. The answer to this question lay on the surface. All the Syrians, with whom the Lebanese journalist had a chance to talk, are confident that the Americans occupied part of their country solely to control the oil and gas fields on the eastern bank of the Euphrates.
The film says that the Conoco plant and a number of other oil and gas companies in the province of Deir-ez-Zor were taken by Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces without a fight during secret agreements with ISIL. Moreover, according to Syrian soldiers, as well as sources of Lebanese journalist in the VTS, the terrorists of the “Islamic state” (prohibited in the Russian Federation), with the mediation of the American side, went over to the side of the Kurds.
“We realized that they are fighting more for oil and gas, rather than trying to maintain their positions. This is primarily a war for oil and gas, ”says a soldier of the special unit of the CAA in an interview with the Lebanese journalist on condition of anonymity.
According to him, the Americans only imitated the fight against ISIS “for the media”, while the terrorists “worked” in the ranks of the “Syrian Democratic Forces”. These words were confirmed by another participant in the events of February 7 – another military from the special forces of the Syrian army:
“They (the terrorists. – Ed.) Joined the SDF worked under the cover of the Americans and the SDF command. Civilians who escaped from their territories also confirmed this information to us. All the negotiations we intercepted were in Arabic, except for one – in Kurdish. And all the rest – in Arabic, in the settlements of Hsham and Tel Kalyakh. <…> They (the terrorists. – Approx. Ed.) Carried out the entire defense of the oil fields for the sake of the Americans, under the leadership of the SDF. “
To put an end to this, the Syrian military command has developed an operation to liberate all the settlements, which were under the control of the ISIS and the SDFS up to the Iraqi border. At the time of the preparation of the offensive, which was supposed to start from the village of Hsham, on February 7 one of the SAR people’s militia groups was attacked by ISIS terrorists.
“The attack was very tough, and we watched it from the village. At that moment, the entire front, from Chsham and Mazlum all the way to the Euphrates, was subjected to powerful artillery strikes and heavy equipment attacks from the positions of the IG. We received an order to counterattack. We went on the offensive. They attacked, until they reached the point of contact, and they began to “cover” us. Aviation worked for almost an hour. Helicopters replaced the planes and began to attack them with two. We were beaten with thermal rockets, heavy artillery and all modern weapons, ”recalls a participant in those events.
Both interlocutors Firas Shuri from the ranks of the CAA also mention Russian volunteers who were with Syrians in the area of the village of Hsham.
“We had a small squad of Russian friends with us. <…> When the planes flew off and the helicopters appeared, the Russians began to cover us so that we could return to our initial positions in Hsham. And if it were not for the Russian cover … believe me: no one would have survived, ”the Syrian tells the Lebanese journalist.
It is the Russians, says Firas Shufi in his film, who attributed the greatest losses suffered during the US strikes. However, according to participants in the events of February 7, the loss data was deliberately inflated by the American side. Recall that immediately after the incident near Deir ez-Zor, the chairman of the League of Veterans of Military Conflicts, Andrei Troshev, said that 14 Russian volunteers had died in Syria that night.
Moreover, one of the servicemen with whom the Lebanese journalist was talking explained that “the Russians could have shot down several American helicopters in that battle, but did not do that”: “They understood what this could have caused. According to the Syrians, the Russians still remember the horrors of the Second World War, and do not want to start the third. ”
Despite all the aviation power used by the US Air Force, the Americans could not force the Syrians and Russians to retreat to the Euphrates.
The film ends with a conversation between a Lebanese journalist and a Christian priest Fadi from the village of Scalbiye, who, he said, knew several Russians who came to his church to pray. He is confident that, unlike the Americans, who seize and destroy other countries, Russians hold a different position.
“And in any country where war is going on, our Russian friends appear to protect people who love peace. Our land (Scalbiye. – Approx. Ed.) Is known for the faith professed by the Russians. They appeared here and therefore too. But, above all, to return us peace and security. Some of these Russians who came here (in the church of the village of Scalbije. – Ed.) Were not even Christians. They were often of different faith. But faith in the world made them fight for us and not pay attention to religion. That is why they are here. And we are very pleased with their presence, ”said Father Fadi in an interview with a Lebanese journalist.
However, the “famous British TV channel” refused to publish the film Firas Shufi. Probably because the Western media do not want to tell their viewers the truth about what really happened and continues to happen in Syria.
