Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the situation in Venezuela and other international and domestic issues with the permanent members of the Security Council, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
“The president briefed the participants in the meeting on his recent talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” he said. “There was an exchange of opinion on Syria, including the outlook for a political settlement.”
Crucial issues on Russia’s internal socio-political agenda were reviewed, too, Peskov said.
“There was a business-like discussion of the situation in Venezuela,” Peskov said. “Once again Russia’s stance was confirmed any outside intervention in the internal political situation in that country is impermissible.”
Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Kremlin Chief of Staff Anton Vaino, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov and Special Presidential Representative for Nature Conservation Affairs, Ecology and Climate Sergei Ivanov
