Federal air traffic controllers and aviation safety personnel gathered outside Dallas Fort Worth Airport on Tuesday to highlight mounting financial stress and safety concerns amid the partial government shutdown.
Holding signs with messages like “Stop the Shutdown” and “Don’t Gamble with Aviation Safety,” about a dozen FAA employees represented by the National Air Traffic Controllers Association and Professional Aviation Safety Specialists said the shutdown threatens the safety and well-being of workers and airline passengers alike.
Air traffic controllers, plane technicians and Transportation Security Administration officers at Louisville International Airport were among the roughly 800,000 workers who missed their first paycheck on Friday because of the shutdown.
