Warsaw’s mayor to introduce lessons on hate speech in schools

Warsaw’s mayor Rafał Trzaskowski plans to introduce controversial lessons on hate speech in schools. The campaign has provoked outrage among Polish internauts, as it is seen as taking advantage of the death of Gdańsk’s mayor Paweł Adamowicz.

Trzaskowski announced the decision on twitter:

“Hatred has destructive results and everything begins from words,” Trzaskowski explained. This is why in Warsaw’s schools, before the Winter break, lessons concerning how to react and oppose hate speech will be introduced.”

Twitter users are outraged by this decision, as it is also seen as a method of sowing Left-wing propaganda in schools. Krzysztof Bosak of the National Movement harshly criticized the idea:

“WARNING PARENTS: I’d like to draw your attention to the fact that the Leftist “hate speech” and the Christian meaning of the word “hatred” are two different things. “Hate speech” is verbal expression of hatred and the lack of acceptance of Left-wing ideology (so called “equal treatment”, the prerequisite of “verbal acceptance”).

Bosak also explained how the Left is changing the meaning of words to suit their political needs:

“It is also important to notice that apart from the term “hatred”, the Left is trying to redefine the term “violence.” The end result is that conservative views become a form of “verbal violence” and “symbolic violence” in Christian culture, meanwhile a blind eye is being turned on the Antifa’s violence.”
