Turkey said Monday the United States (US) made “a fatal mistake” to equate Kurds with the Kurdish militias by warning of economic devastation if Turkey struck Kurdish forces in Syria during the withdrawal of US troops.
“Turkey is fighting against terrorists, rather than Kurds,” Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said in a tweet.
“Turkey expects the US to respect our strategic partnership, and does not want it to be overshadowed by terrorist propaganda. There is no difference between ISIS, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, People’s Self-Defense Forces and the Democratic Union Party. We will continue to fight against them. Turkey will protect Kurds and other Syrians against all terrorist threats”, he added.
