Three killed, 23 injured in Ottawa bus crash

Three people were killed and 23 injured when a double-decker bus crashed into a bus shelter in the Canadian capital Ottawa on Friday.

Emergency services were filmed lifting passengers from the wreckage and placing them on stretchers.

The collision happened at Westboro station, a stop on the city’s rapid transit network Transitway, at the start of the afternoon rush hour. The number 269 was heading to the western suburb of Kanata.

The driver was arrested for questioning. An investigation has been opened by the local police department.
