Thousands of Britons, frightened by the prospect of Brexit, are getting Irish passports

The message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland says that almost 100 thousand Britons in 2018 filed petitions for issuing passports to Irish citizens. While in 2017, more than 81 thousand applications for passports were received, in 2015 – 46 thousand.

Let’s recall that in the referendum on the withdrawal of the UK from the EU in 2016, 56% of the population of Northern Ireland spoke out against Brexit.
