The trial of the murder of the Russian ambassador began in Turkey

In Turkey, the trial of the murder of Russian ambassador Andrei Karlov, who was shot dead on December 19, 2016 in Ankara, begins during the opening of the photo exhibition “Russia from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka through the eyes of a traveler”. The attack was committed by police officer Mevlüt Altıntaş. Immediately after committing the crime, he was killed by law enforcement officials.

Among the accused is the opposition Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen. According to investigators, it was his group that organized the assassination attempt.
