Shots Fired In Downtown Cologne, Police Arrest One And Hunt Is On For Others

Police arrested a man after several gunshots were fired in downtown Cologne on Friday afternoon.

A dispute involving several people was reported at 13.48 near the Breslauer Platz station.

According to the Cologne Police, people fled on foot and in a black car from the crime scene.

“The car was occupied by a female and a male person. In the vicinity, one of the parties to the dispute was arrested. The search and manhunt continue,” they wrote on their social media account.

Currently, a special task force is also searching a nearby house.

Officers said the suspect detained is 29-year-old and possessed a firearm.

“At around 2:00 pm, several witnesses noticed a loud argument that began on the ground floor of a house on Altenberger Strasse and shifted to the street,” police said in a statement.

Detectives added there are no reports of injuries and investigations are ongoing.
