Trump confronts Russia with Turkey

For several weeks, the sensational announcement of US President Trump about the upcoming withdrawal of troops from Syria has been discussed. Say, the victory over ISIS was the only reason why America kept its soldiers in Syria, “and now it has been achieved.” On December 24, Trump signed a decree.

Outlets, such as the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and Bloomberg, which circulated Trump’s statement, added that the withdrawal of the American military from Syria would be “complete and quick.”

However, on the last day of 2018, Trump published a contradictory statement in Twiiter, saying that the departure of the Americans would take 4 months.

This decision was explained to Trump by the desire to finally finish off ISIS, at the same time ensuring the security of the Kurds allied to it.

As if to confirm the words of the chef, State Department Speaker Sarah Sanders reported that the US military had already begun to leave Syria before the beginning of 2019, and State Department representatives were evacuated from the country within 24 hours.

Reuters, citing its own sources, informs that the Americans intend to leave beautifully, putting the final point by conducting a military operation to clean up the nest of ISIL militants in the area of the settlement of Khadzhin, located on the eastern coast of the Euphrates of Deir ez-Zor. It is also reported that 60-100 days are required for a full withdrawal of American troops.

According to data from various sources, the Syrian group of Americans has approximately 2,000 military personnel and consists mainly of units of special operations forces and RUMO personnel reinforced by air force strike weapons. We must assume that the actual transfer of troops from Syria will take the minimum amount of time from the stated 4 months.

After Trump had dotted the “i”, versions began to emerge – why did the Americans actually need to leave Syria.

Judging by the fact that the Russian and Turkish foreign ministers agreed on coordination between the military representatives after the withdrawal of the US military from Syria, the Americans very much hope for an aggravation and split within the Russia-Syria-Iran-Turkey coalition after the balance of forces in the conflict zone is changed.

More specifically, Turkey’s withdrawal from the coalition and the direct clash of its occupying contingent with the Russian military.

This is due to the fact that, while the Russian VKS and special forces were clearing the Syrian settlements from the bogeles, agreed on a cease-fire and a truce with the more or less sane “opposition”, the Turks gradually took over the north and then the north-west part Aleppo. And now, instead of igilovskikh militants, in this part of Syria, the people of Erdogan are in charge.

Damascus, in turn, planned a military operation to regain control of the territory captured by the Turks, but the Russian side, rightly not wanting to be drawn into a military conflict with Turkey, went the way of negotiations.

The Turkish side was also in no hurry to force a military conflict with Syria and Russia at the same time, undertook to restore order in Idlib, where the half-dead igiloids and nusrachs had recently flocked. These lumps remained so greasy that they directly from Idlib began to threaten Russia and Syria with war, and even promised to make a raid on Damascus.

Turkey, suddenly frightened that in the process it could also fly to their pocket basmachis from the Turkomans, undertook to restore order in Idlib and its surroundings, asking coalition partners not to conduct a military operation. The intransigent was asked to lay down their arms and enter a political dialogue.

The trouble is that the bogeys who had gathered in Idlib, like herrings in a barrel, were completely covered with blood and were not going to agree. The repainted nusrachs unleashed a war against everyone within the province, while the rest made a thoughtful look, as if they were thinking.

However, as time went on, pro-Turkish militants continued to speculate, and in Damascus they increasingly lost their patience, preparing for military intervention and the restoration of government control over everything Idlib.

After failing to bring the province under control of pro-Turkish militants, Erdogan had no choice but to support the friendly “National Liberation Front” in the fight against Syrian al-Qaida.

The most violent battles take place in the north and south of Idlib, but the war in one way or another covers the entire perimeter of the province’s demilitarized zone. The danger is that the conflict is ever closer to the territory under the control of Damascus.

We must think that it was precisely in the event of a possible escalation of the proxy war that Lavrov and Cavusoglu agreed on coordination between the military. In any case, Russia and Turkey gave a clear signal to lovers to push their heads together, that they do not intend to go on about Trump’s cunning plans and, moreover, slide into armed conflict for the sake of America’s geopolitical interests.

In addition, as Vasily Nebenzya, the Russian permanent representative to the UN, noted, the withdrawal of Americans from Syria will immediately solve a number of humanitarian issues. For example, defuse the critical situation around the Rukban refugee camp, created by the American interventionists, which impede the delivery of humanitarian supplies and medical assistance from the legitimate government of Syria. Not to mention the restoration of international legal legitimacy and sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic that had been ravaged by a long war.
