The Islamist rebels stepped up their attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate this week.
Led by their Jaysh Al-Izza faction, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) attempted to infiltrate the Syrian Arab Army’s positions near the key town of Al-Latamnah in the northern Hama countryside.
According to a military report from the Hama province, the Syrian Arab Army was able to foil the Free Syrian Army’s infiltration attempt after they spotted the rebel fighters moving towards their positions.
The military report said that the Syrian Army managed to kill and wound most of the infiltrators before the remaining fighters withdrew to the Al-Latamnah axis
Al-Latamnah is considered the main stronghold for the Free Syrian Army and their allies; it has been a launching point for the Islamist rebel attacks on the Syrian Arab Army’s positions along the northern Hama axis.
The Syrian Arab Army will likely respond to this infiltration attempt in the coming hours, but the attack will be limited to just missile and artillery strikes.
However, the Syrian Arab Army is not likely going to idly anymore once they are given the green light by the Russian Reconciliation Center to launch an offensive against the Islamist rebels in the area.
