Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has repeatedly called on NATO countries to introduce their fleet into the Black and Azov Seas, accusing Russia of “aggression”, but the United States clearly understands that you should not rush into rash decisions to please Kiev, for which you will have to pay a lot.
The corresponding statement was made by a US diplomat and former United States Ambassador to Kiev Stephen Peifer. His words cite the Ukrainian media.
Peifer spoke against sending the American fleet to the Sea of Azov, believing that such a move would necessarily entail a conflict between Russia and the North Atlantic alliance, and the latter will have far fewer advantages, given the more favorable geographical position of the Russian Federation.
Moreover, he stresses, one should not forget about the elementary agreements between Moscow and Kiev, according to which foreign ships cannot be located in the water area of the Sea of Azov without the consent of both countries.
Earlier, Kiev’s militarist policy was criticized by former German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, saying that Ukraine was trying to drag Germany into an armed conflict with Russia .
