Georgia: Thousands protest against presidential election results in Tbilisi

Thousands of people rallied in Tbilisi on Sunday, denouncing the result of what they believe to be the “rigged” presidential election and calling for snap parliamentary elections.

“If a full mobilisation is needed, we will declare it. We do not consider these elections valid, we do not recognise their results,”

“Georgia does not have a president, it is [former Georgian President] Bidzina Ivanishvili’s Georgian Dream Party of thieves who has a president.”

“We will win very soon! Glory to Georgia! Glory to the Georgian people!”

“Today is a peaceful rally to protest against the rigged elections which was recognised by the international community as unfair elections. And it’s since a long time there has never been such a conclusion by the international community. And it is very shameful for this government that let Georgia fall totally under the one person who is a de-facto ruler but has no responsibility whatsoever and he put his chosen candidate there with no whatsoever real public support.”

“Thousands of people who gathered here today push for the only goal – to be heard by the Georgian Government. The Georgian citizens will never put up with the robbery of their votes, of their right to choose, their right to choose the future president.”
