The Finnish Church rebukes Poroshenko’s claims over alleged support for autocephaly in Ukraine

The Finnish Orthodox Church (FPC) has not made official statements about autocephaly in Ukraine . This was stated by a representative of the church, Deacon Vladimir Sokratilin, transmit Russian media .

“Official position: we follow the development of the situation, we pray for the preservation of peace and unity in the Church,” he said, adding that the meeting held in Helsinki by Poroshenko and Archbishop Leo was closed and unofficial.

On the eve of the press service of the President of Ukraine reported on the meeting of Petro Poroshenko in the head of the FPC Archbishop Leo, at which the head of state thanked the archbishop for supporting autocephaly.

“Ukrainians have the right to create their own church, as the Finns were 100 years old,” Poroshenko’s press service quoted the head of the Finnish Orthodox Church.

Earlier, “Vesti” reported that the  Metropolitan of Moldova called the inexcusable decision of Constantinople in Ukraine.  We also told that  Patriarch Bartholomew explained the provision of autocephaly to Ukraine by  “loving care”.
