Ukraine and Kosovo on agenda of the Serbian Orthodox Church

The decision of Patriarch Bartholomew in Ukraine and the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the province of Kosovo and Metohija are the main topics at the extraordinary Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which continues yesterday and today, writes the Belgrade edition of the Evening News.

After the Liturgy, Bishop Raska-Prizrensky Theodosius was the first to speak before the Council on the situation in Kosovo. The Serbian Orthodox Church has left its position on the situation in the region unchanged, according to Novosti.

As is well known, in the controversial land, the clerics of the SOC are regularly exposed to attacks and threats from the Albanian radicals. Recently, the Russian Foreign Ministry in an official statement noted the usurpation by the Kosovars of the SOC property. The Russian ministry believes that such an attitude to the temples is a consequence of the noncononic steps of Constantinople in the UOC.

The next main topic of the Council will be the Ukrainian question and the provision of autocephaly to the schismatics. Already, according to earlier statements, it is known that among the Serbian bishops there is no dilemma regarding the support of the Russian Orthodox Church in its dispute with Constantinople.

“In essence, the message of Bishop Irenaeus is the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church,” Novosti writes.
