According to the Defense News, the United States Department of Defense plans to upgrade radar stations to detect ballistic missiles and other means of destruction that are currently equipped with American anti-missile defense systems.
The plans of the US military to equip their missile defense radar radar review in the framework of the project LTAMDS. At the same time, this detection complex will be involved in the development of new systems that will replace the current Patriot air defense system.
As reported in the media, the Pentagon has already launched an appropriate tender, and by 2022 a company will be selected among the mastodons of the American military industry to build six prototypes. Currently, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Technovative Applications, and Raytheon have filed applications.
At the same time, American experts have already managed to evaluate the plans of the Ministry of Defense, noting that the Pentagon decided to follow in the footsteps of Russia and their S-400 and S-500 anti-aircraft missile systems, which can shoot down both ballistic and cruise missiles.
