Clashes erupted in the Flamengo neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, soon after the election victory announcement of new Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
“After the fascist won suddenly there where fireworks, they were throwing bottles and rocks at people in the square,” said a woman who was in the street.
Far-right candidate Bolsonaro won 55.1 percent of the votes cast against 44.9 percent for leftist Fernando Haddad in Sunday’s presidential elections.
