Thousands of Central American migrants reached the municipality of Arriaga in the Mexican state of Chiapas on Friday, after travelling around 100 kilometres (62.1 miles) from the state’s Pijijiapan through Tonala.
Most of them walked all the way, but some paid up to 50 pesos ($2.58) for a ride to make the journey easier. They were piled up in trucks and vans, risking their lives in a fall.
Migrants were offered with food and clothes in every city stop. “They have given us water, and where to stay too. We have achieved milestone, there are times we have paid, but we go well,” one migrant from Honduras said.
They will head towards the Mexican state of Tabasco on Saturday to continue their journey to the United States borders.
