A pension reform rally ended in fierce clashes between protesters and police in Santiago on Wednesday.
Demonstrators had attempted to walk down the city’s principal street La Alameda, but were prevented from doing so by water cannon and tear gas. Police made at least 12 arrests.
The march was organised by No+AFP, the campaign group behind the 2016 protests against the current privatised pension system. It was first introduced by former dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1981.
