Police officers amassed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday evening, as investigations into the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi continue.
The journalist was last seen alive on October 2 when he went to the consulate to deal with papers relating to his upcoming marriage. Saudi officials admitted on October 19 that he died in the building but claimed that he did so following a dispute that turned violent, while Turkish officials, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan allege that the killing was premeditated and planned at the highest levels of the Saudi government.
Reports have since surfaced saying that Khashoggi’s remains have been found in the garden of the Saudi consul general’s home. There has been no official confirmation of the report however, and sources from the Istanbul Prosecutor’s office have denied such claims.
