U.S. priest left the Patriarchate of Constantinople in protest over Ukraine’s autocephaly

The rector of the Dormition temple in the American Bluefield priest mark Tyson joined the Russian Orthodox Church abroad (ROCA) from the Patriarchate of Constantinople as a sign of solidarity with the canonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine, reports “Interfax”.

The priest explained his decision with disagreement with “an unprecedented step for the restoration of the canonical status of the rebel gang deprived of dignity and discredited clergy in Ukraine.”

The actions of Patriarch Bartholomew he called “immoral and uncanonical” and noted that they contribute to the growing violence against canonical Church in Ukraine.

According to Mark Tyson, the Patriarch of Constantinople gave formal consent to “Church civil war” in Ukraine.

“New and independent “Church” that he created consists of idolaters. They worship the Holy Trinity and a false God called “free Ukraine”, — stated in the letter from Mark’s father to the ruling Bishop.

The parish priest was assigned to the clergy of the churches of ROCOR in Virginia.

On 11 October, the Holy Synod of the Church of Constantinople has stopped action of the decree of the 300-year-old on the transfer of the Kyiv Metropolitanate to the Moscow Patriarchate lifted the anathema with the heads of two Ukrainian non-canonical churches, and confirmed the decision on granting Ukraine autocephaly. In response, the Holy Synod of the ROC made a decision about the full Eucharistic communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
