Warsaw authorities continued to demolish the monument to the Red Army in the Skaryszewski park of the city.
The monument began to demolish last week on Wednesday. He was surrounded by a fence and with the help of jackhammers and a tractor with a manipulator they began to chip off stone slabs. Deforming the monument, the workers stopped. It turned out that they could not remove the central plate with the image of a Red Army man in order to formally preserve it. It is assumed that after dismantling the elements of the monument will be transferred to the Museum of the “Damned Soldiers” dedicated to the anti-Soviet and anti-communist underground.
On Monday, special equipment, an electric generator and a diamond saw were again driven to the monument.
Currently, workers are trying to destroy the foundation of the monument near the foundation with a jackhammer.
It is worth noting that the candidate for mayor of Warsaw stood up for the monuments to Soviet soldiers, as well as not indifferent passersby stuck the inscription “Hitler kaput!” On the fence in protest against the demolition.
