The Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojičić, speaking at the opening ceremony of the Conference of Young Leaders of Serbia and Russia, mentioned three aspects of relations between the two countries: past, present and future.
“Our friendship is an example of how friendships can be maintained in difficult times of history,” the mayor said.
Speaking about the present, he noted positive interstate relations. And the future, he said, is the youth, the participants of the conference, the politicians, the diplomats.
Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin also spoke about the historical interaction of Russia and Serbia. This year, countries celebrate 180 years of diplomatic relations, Chepurin recalled.
“We have similar goals, there are no contradictions between our countries.”
“Some people are staking on chaos, and we are staking on Russia,” the ambassador said about the importance of youth activities.
The conference in Belgrade is timed to the 180th anniversary of diplomatic relations, supported by the Foreign Ministries of both countries.
